Wedding Drinks Packages at Hockwold Hall
At Hockwold Hall, we offer a thoughtfully curated range of optional and fully customisable wedding drinks packages, allowing you to provide refreshments for your guests in a way that reflects your style, priorities, and budget.
Whether you prefer a simple welcome drink, a structured drinks token system, or a generous open bar, our experienced events team will guide you through the options to help you create a seamless and enjoyable experience for your guests.
Ways to Provide Drinks for Your Guests
Couples typically choose from one or more of the following options:
- Welcome Drinks
- Table Wine
- Toast Drinks
- Drinks Tokens
- Open Bar / Bar Tab
You are welcome to mix and match options to suit different moments throughout your wedding day.
Welcome Drinks
Following your ceremony, many couples choose to offer guests a refreshing drink while photographs are taken and celebrations begin. The most popular choice is a glass of Prosecco, Champagne, or bottled beer.
As a general guide, most couples provide one welcome drink per guest.
Alternatively, some couples prefer to offer drinks tokens, allowing guests to select their own drink from the bar.

Table Wine
We offer a carefully selected range of red, white, and rosé wines to complement your wedding breakfast, with table wine served during dinner service only. We recommend allowing two/three bottles per table during the wedding breakfast to ensure everyone is comfortably catered for.
Wine List
If you’d like guidance in choosing your wines, we invite couples to attend our annual wine tasting event, held each March in the year of your wedding. An email invitation will be sent in advance with full details.
Corkage
Corkage is available on 750ml bottles of table wine only, charged at £12 per bottle.
Toast Drinks
Some couples choose to provide drinks for speeches and toasts, we recommend providing one glass of Prosecco or a non-alcoholic alternative per guest.
If you have a different idea in mind for your toast drinks, our events team will be happy to discuss this with you and advise on suitability and logistics.
Drinks Tokens
Drinks tokens are a flexible and popular option, allowing guests to choose their own drinks from our Grand Marquee Bar.
Tokens can be tailored to suit your preferences and budget, making them an excellent way to:
- Manage overall spend
- Reduce waste
- Give guests freedom of choice
To help keep bar tabs predictable, tokens are typically limited to £6 per drink, allowing guests to choose from:
- A pint or bottle of beer or cider
- A glass of Prosecco
- A medium glass of wine
- A single spirit with mixer
- Soft drinks
Open Bar / Bar Tab
If you wish to place money behind the bar for your guests, an open bar or bar tab can be arranged. This can include spending limits or specific time frames to suit your plans.

FAQ's
At what point in our planning journey do we need to confirm our drink options?
Decisions are finalised no later than at your 1 month meeting prior to your wedding date with your event coordinator.
Can guests pay by cash or card?
We can accept cash and card payments at the bar
Can we set up a bar tab?
Some couples prefer to set up a Bar Tab with a pre determined amount set at the bar. Once the amount it is reached, your guests can then pay for the remainder of their drinks.
It is also possible to extend your bar tab on the day should you wish to add more budget towards it.
DRINKS TOKEN / WRIST BAND
Other couples have chosen an alternative ideas by having a Drinks Token system with a specific limit of drinks per guest or using wrist bands to manage who can have a certain value of drinks.
Options can be discussed with your event coordinator no later than 1 month prior to your wedding date.
Can we have an open bar?
We can offer an Open Bar model which can vary based on your preference of time frames and budget.
Open Bar options include:
- Drinks offered to all guests’ only for a specific time frame during the event, or
- Drinks offered to specific guests’ such as your main bridal/groom party, or
- Drinks offered during the entire event for all your guests’ (This can only start after the civil ceremony is over. Drinks can then be served for the remainder of the day into the evening)or,
Can we bring our own alcohol?
Corkage is only available for table wine at £12.00 per bottle.
Our alcohol license ends at 11:00PM Monday-Thursday and at Midnight from Friday-Sundays. Once our license ends, you are permitted to consume your own alcohol in our indoor cellar bar located inside Hockwold Hall.
Alcoholic wedding favours for guests’ are not permitted. This is due to alcohol licensing laws and our responsibility as a venue to manage alcoholic consumption during the licensing hours.
Do we have to provide welcome drinks?
Some of our couples prefer to skip the welcome drinks part and usher their guests’ to the Grand Marquee Bar right after their ceremony where they can select their preferred drink.
Options Include:
- An open bar or,
- Setting up a bar tab or have Drinks token / Wrist Band or,
- Your guests’ pay for their own drinks
Do we have to serve alcohol at all?
If you and your partner don’t drink but your friends and family do (and you’re not opposed to alcohol), it’s nice to have a little bit of alcohol available, even if it’s just beer and wine.
If you feel strongly about not having any alcohol available at all, you can host an alcohol free event.

If you prefer offering tea and coffee as a substitute, then speak to our exclusive catering partner Shefs who can price this into your catering package.
Can we offer alcoholic wedding favours on the table?
No, this is due to alcohol licensing laws and our responsibility as a venue to manage alcoholic consumption during the licensing hours.
Can we request drink options you do not currently stock at your bar?
We will do our utmost to source special drinks you are hoping to incorporate into your wedding day whether it be during welcome drinks, toast drinks or served at our bar.
Advance notice of no later than 2 months is encouraged to ensure sufficient time to explore sourcing options and availability of stock with our suppliers.
Final Details
All drinks arrangements must be finalised at your meeting one month prior to your wedding date.

Please note that we operate a Challenge 25 Policy where we will ask for ID for anyone who is lucky enough to look under 25 and they must provide original valid proof of ID over 18 years old. We are unable to serve alcohol to anyone without a valid form of ID and under the age of 18.
