Meet M & J, who tied the knot at Hockwold Hall in the middle of August, surrounded by their closest family and friends.
With golden sunshine, beautiful gardens bursting with colour and long summer evenings, their wedding day was everything you could dream of for a romantic summer celebration.
From their enchanting outdoor ceremony to a relaxed garden party in the sunshine and an unforgettable evening of dancing beneath the twinkling lights of our Grand Marquee, M & J’s special day was filled with love, laughter and beautiful moments to treasure forever.
A Morning of Excitement and Anticipation
The morning began with excitement as M and her bridal party gathered in our Bridal Preparation Studio for hair, makeup and plenty of laughter. Once everyone was ready, they headed upstairs to the beautiful bedrooms of Hockwold Hall, where M slipped into her wedding dress, enjoyed the finishing touches and shared a few glasses of Prosecco to calm the nerves.
Meanwhile, J was getting ready with the lads, sharing laughs and making those final adjustments as the excitement built for the moment they’d both been waiting for.
A Grand Staircase, a Special First Look
One of the most magical moments of the morning took place on Hockwold Hall’s beautiful grand staircase. With her dress perfectly in place and the finishing touches complete, M made her way down the elegant staircase, pausing for some beautiful bridal portraits along the way.
The historic staircase provided a wonderfully romantic backdrop, capturing those final moments of anticipation before the ceremony.
Waiting at the bottom was M’s dad, ready to see his daughter in her wedding dress for the very first time. As she descended the stairs, it was a moment filled with love, emotion and happy tears. A truly special father-daughter first look, and one of those precious memories that will be treasured long after the wedding day.
Saying ‘I Do’ Beneath the Summer Skies
With the preparations complete, it was finally time for the moment everyone had been waiting for.
Set amongst the beautiful grounds of Hockwold Hall, our enchanting outdoor ceremony space provided the most romantic backdrop for M & J to exchange their vows.
With the summer sunshine overhead, lush greenery all around and their closest family and friends gathered together, the setting couldn’t have been more perfect. There’s something incredibly special about an outdoor wedding ceremony, where the beauty of nature becomes part of the celebration.
As M made her way down the aisle towards J, all eyes were on the happy couple. Surrounded by the warmth of the summer afternoon, they exchanged their vows, shared their first kiss as newlyweds and began the next chapter of their love story.
And just like that, M & J were married!
Confetti, Champagne and Summer Celebrations
No wedding is complete without a little confetti magic!
Following their ceremony, guests gathered to shower the newlyweds in a flurry of confetti, creating one of those wonderfully joyful moments filled with cheers, laughter and beaming smiles.
With everyone together, it was also the perfect opportunity for a group photograph, capturing all the people who had come to celebrate M & J’s special day in one beautiful moment.
The Charm of an English Summer Garden Party
As the afternoon unfolded, the gardens of Hockwold Hall came alive with the sounds of laughter and celebration.
Guests enjoyed refreshing drinks in the sunshine, challenged one another to a few friendly games on the lawns and made the most of the beautiful summer weather. Friends and family caught up over drinks, shared favourite stories of M & J and enjoyed spending time together in the gardens.
It was everything we love about summer weddings. A wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, beautiful surroundings and plenty of time to simply enjoy the occasion.
Meanwhile, M & J slipped away for a little time together, exploring the romantic corners of our historic estate with their photographer.
From the charming walled gardens and picturesque pathways to the beautiful backdrop of the Tudor Hall, there was no shortage of breathtaking places to capture their first photographs as husband and wife.
These quieter moments away from the celebrations gave the newlyweds a chance to soak it all in, steal a few kisses and enjoy the magic of their wedding day together.
A Grand Entrance and a Wedding Breakfast to Remember
As the afternoon celebrations continued, it was time to invite everyone into our beautiful Grand Marquee for the wedding breakfast.
With its elegant chandeliers, romantic lighting and views out towards the gardens, the marquee was the perfect setting for the next part of M & J’s celebrations.
With cheers, applause and plenty of smiles, M & J made their entrance as husband and wife, ready to celebrate with all their favourite people.
The afternoon flowed into a wonderful wedding breakfast, filled with delicious food, happy conversation and glasses raised in celebration.
And, of course, no wedding breakfast would be complete without the speeches! From heartfelt words and touching memories to hilarious stories that had the whole marquee laughing, it was another beautiful opportunity to celebrate the couple and the journey that had brought them together.
Golden Summer Evenings and Dancing Under the Lights
One of the most wonderful things about a summer wedding is how the celebrations seem to stretch endlessly into the evening.
As the afternoon sunshine softened and the gardens began to glow in the golden evening light, the atmosphere shifted from relaxed garden party to an unforgettable evening celebration.
Inside the Grand Marquee, the romantic lighting began to sparkle, the music started and the dance floor was calling.
With the formalities behind them, M & J and their guests were ready to let their hair down and dance the night away.
As the long summer evening slowly faded into dusk, the marquee came alive with twinkling lights, music and laughter. The dance floor filled with family and friends, all coming together to celebrate one very special couple.

There’s no need to worry about the unpredictable British weather! We have beautiful indoor ceremony spaces available as a backup, and our Grand Marquee is fully covered and heated, so your celebrations can continue whatever the weather.
Can our guests enjoy the gardens during the wedding?
Of course! Our beautiful gardens and grounds are exclusively yours to enjoy throughout your wedding day. They’re perfect for welcome drinks, garden games, relaxed mingling and those all-important summer wedding photographs, giving you and your guests the freedom to make the most of our stunning surroundings.
What time should we have our summer wedding ceremony?
We highly recommend a 2pm ceremony, giving you plenty of time to get ready in the morning and enjoy a relaxed afternoon of drinks, photographs and celebrations before your wedding breakfast.
Can we have an outdoor drinks reception?
Absolutely! Summer is the perfect time to enjoy welcome drinks and canapés in our beautiful gardens. Your guests can soak up the sunshine, explore the grounds and enjoy garden games while you have your photographs taken.
Does the Grand Marquee stay cool on hot summer days?
Our Grand Marquee is designed with summer celebrations in mind! Large bi-fold doors can be opened to let in a refreshing breeze, while fans help circulate the air and an air conditioning unit near the top table provides additional cooling. These features help keep your guests comfortable throughout the celebrations.
Are there shaded areas for guests on hot summer days?
Yes! Our beautiful gardens offer plenty of lovely spots to relax, including shaded areas beneath mature trees. We also have outdoor seating for your drinks reception, complete with large parasols to keep guests comfortable while enjoying the summer sunshine. Our Grand Marquee provides an additional covered space to escape the sun throughout the day.
Can we have outdoor entertainment during our wedding?
Yes! Our spacious grounds are perfect for adding a little extra fun to your summer celebrations.
