Your Wedding Day Timeline for a 2 PM Ceremony
A well-planned timeline gives you time to enjoy every part of your wedding, from getting ready with your wedding party to celebrating on the dance floor.
A 2 PM ceremony allows for plenty of morning preparation, an afternoon with your guests and a full evening of celebrations. Here’s a suggested schedule for your wedding at Hockwold Hall.
Morning Preparations
7:00 AM | Breakfast and a Relaxed Start
Start the day with breakfast and a little time to take it all in. Make sure your wedding party eats too, and keep drinks and snacks handy throughout the morning.
From 8:00 AM | Bridal Preparation
Our Bridal Prep Studio is available from 8 AM, giving you a dedicated space for hair, makeup and all the excitement of getting ready together.
Agree a schedule with your hair and makeup team in advance, allowing enough time for everyone and those final finishing touches.
Your photographer can capture the preparations, along with details such as your dress, shoes, jewellery, flowers and rings.
Before the Ceremony
12:00 PM | Groom and Groomsmen Start Getting Dressed
With access to the Main Hall from midday, the groom and groomsmen can begin getting dressed.
Allow time for ties, buttonholes and photographs together. Keep rings and any other ceremony essentials ready for when they’re needed.
12:30 PM | Bride Gets Dressed
It’s time to put on your wedding dress! Allow time for fastening your dress, putting on shoes and jewellery, and making any final adjustments.
Have the people helping you ready, along with your photographer to capture these special moments.
1:00 PM | Optional First Look with Your Partner
If you’d like to see each other before the ceremony, this is the time for your first look.
Enjoy a quiet moment together while your photographer captures your reactions. If you’d prefer to wait until the aisle, use this time for finishing touches and bridal portraits.
1:15 PM | Bridal First Looks
Reveal your finished look to your parents, bridesmaids or other special people.
Have your photographer ready to capture their reactions, leaving enough time for your registrar meeting at 1:30 PM.
1:15 PM | Groom’s Registrar Meeting
While the bridal first looks take place, the groom meets with the registrar in the designated area to confirm the final ceremony details.
1:30 PM | Bride’s Registrar Meeting
The bride meets with the registrar before the ceremony to go through the final details.
These timings should be confirmed with your registrars in advance, and your coordinator can help ensure you’re both in the right place.
1:30–2:00 PM | Guests Arrive and Take Their Seats
Guests arrive, find their seats and enjoy the anticipation. Background music helps set the mood, while ushers or nominated members of your wedding party can direct everyone.
Aim to have guests seated a little before 2 PM, ready for your entrance.
The Ceremony
2:00–2:30 PM | Time to Say “I Do”
Exchange your vows, share your first kiss as newlyweds and walk back down the aisle together!
Allow around 20–30 minutes for the ceremony, depending on your readings and personal touches. Confirm the expected duration with your registrar.
2:30–3:00 PM | Confetti and Congratulations
Enjoy those first just-married moments, congratulations from your guests and your confetti photographs.
At Hockwold Hall, confetti must be fresh or dried petals and used outdoors only. Your coordinator and photographer can help gather everyone for the photographs.
Drinks Reception
3:00–4:00 PM | Welcome Drinks, Canapés and Photographs
Spend time with your guests as they enjoy welcome drinks and any canapés you’ve arranged.
This is also a good opportunity for group photographs and couple’s portraits. Keep your formal photo list manageable so you have time to enjoy the reception too.
Live music or garden games can add to the atmosphere while everyone mingles.
The Wedding Breakfast
4:00–4:15 PM | Guests Take Their Seats
Invite guests to find their tables and settle into the marquee, with background music playing as everyone gets comfortable.
4:15–4:30 PM | Your Entrance as Newlyweds
Choose a favourite song and make your entrance to cheers from your family and friends!
This window also allows a little breathing space before the meal begins.
4:30–6:30 PM | Wedding Breakfast and Speeches
Enjoy your first meal as a married couple, surrounded by your favourite people.
The time needed will depend on your guest numbers, menu and serving style. Agree the schedule with your caterers, including when you’d like your speeches.
Whether speeches take place before or after the meal, allow enough time for everyone speaking. If you’d prefer them between courses, discuss this with your caterers beforehand.
Evening Celebrations
6:30–7:00 PM | Evening Guests Arrive
Welcome any additional guests and enjoy a little time to mingle before the evening celebrations begin.
This can also be a useful opportunity to freshen up or take a few more photographs, depending on the season and available daylight.
7:00 PM | Cake Cutting
Gather your guests for the cake cutting and let your photographer capture the moment before you head to the dance floor.
7:10 PM | First Dance
Share your first dance as newlyweds, followed by any parent dances you’ve chosen, then invite everyone to join you.
From 7:15 PM | Dancing and Celebrations
Let the party begin! Whether you’ve chosen a DJ or live band, it’s time to relax and celebrate.
Agree an evening food serving time with your caterer or food supplier so guests can refuel between songs.
Final Song | End the Evening Together
Choose a final song to bring everyone together before the music finishes.
At Hockwold Hall, the music finish time is 11 PM Sunday–Thursday and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Plan around the finish time agreed for your booking.
Tips for a Relaxed Wedding Day
Plan with your suppliers. Share your timings with your coordinator, caterers, photographer and entertainment team.
Leave breathing room. Small gaps between activities help prevent the day from feeling rushed.
Prepare your photo list. Choose your must-have group shots and nominate someone who knows your guests to help gather them.
Consider the season. Ask your photographer when to schedule outdoor portraits to make the most of the daylight.
Share the key timings. Make sure your wedding party knows where they need to be and when.
Make time for each other. A few quiet minutes together can become one of your favourite memories.
Use this timeline as a starting point, then work with your coordinator and suppliers to shape a day that suits you.
